About That…

25 Jun

After a long hiatus from S.O.F., I’ve decided it is time to come back. What has happened? Well, for one, the coworker who shared his love for fútbol with me just moved to a new city. Needless to say, I was very sad and almost cried.

On a more positive note, Continue reading

Nani’s Red Card. Need I Say More?

6 Mar
ouch

ouch

Let me jump straight into business here. The referee was the instigator this time. Not just any instigator, but THE hardcore instigator. The drama brewed in the pitch, overflowed to the post-match press conferences, and crossed the Atlantic Ocean all the way to The Stilettos of Fútbol. In tonight’s decisive clash between Manchester United and Real Madrid, all hell broke loose in the 56th minute.

Let’s look at the events leading up to the incident. It is no secret that prior to this match, Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho and Man U coach Sir Alex Ferguson did not hold Turkish 36-year-old insurance agent and football referee Cuneyt Cakir in

El SUPER Clásico: Messi’s Comeback, Ramos’ Unpunished Penalty, & Valdés Loses His Cool

3 Mar

Last night, my crush asked me out on an early hiking date this morning. How dare he! I could not believe he didn’t remember that this morning (in my time zone) we had not only any Clásico, but El SUPER Clásico. I mean, how can anybody on Earth forget? This is a special kind of Clásico because it is a La Liga Clásico. It is not one of the Copa del Rey or the Champions League. This is the real deal. As always, we had our players breaking records, shooting great goals, and a very special instance of drama that cannot be overlooked. I’m very excited to write this post.

Napoli v. Juventus: Showtime

2 Mar

Today I did kickboxing for the first time.  Let’s just say I almost died. It was the good kind of dying, though, if it makes any sense.  Therefore, I really needed a good dose of ball kicking (fútbol) to reward myself for burning about a million and two calories.  Luckily, we had a good Serie A clash between the current top two Italian teams of this season, number one Juventus and second place Napoli. This battle ended in a 1-1 draw at the Stadio San Paolo, which maintains the Juventus six-point lead ahead of Napoli. Continue reading

Copa del Rey Final Contestants Announced: El Derbi Madrileño Coming Soon

28 Feb
There's some serious intensity coming up

There’s some serious drama about to go down.

This will be a quick post because I have to head out soon, but let me just say this: Madrid, Madrid, Madrid and more Madrid. The Copa del Rey final has Madrid written all over it thanks to the dynamic duos VaraCris and CostAlcao. Yesterday it was all about Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphaël Varane, and today Diego Costa and Radamel Falcao stole the spotlight. Although today’s clash between Atlético Madrid and Sevilla resulted in a 2-2 draw, the former advanced to the final with an aggregate score of 4-3.

El Clásico: Barcelona’s Second Embarassment in Five Days

Ángel Di María had Carles Puyol doing the splits (via 101greatgoals)

Ángel Di María had Carles Puyol doing the splits (via 101greatgoals)

My abs are sore. Not from my workout earlier today, but from seeing Puyol do the splits in today’s El Clásico in the Camp Nou or should I say Camp Mou?. Should I have foreseen such an action-filled Clásico tonight, I would not have done so many planks this morning. Even Sir Alex Ferguson graced the Camp Nou with his appearance! Continue reading

Birthday Boy Cristiano Redeems Himself With a Hat-Trick Against Sevilla

10 Feb
Everybody bow, it's my birthday

“Everybody rise, it’s my birthday.”

I have been pretty busy doing a photo shoot for The Stilettos of Fútbol. This Thursday I visited Sweetwater High School and shot some pictures in its football field. It’s about time to jazz up this place with interesting images and colors, don’t you think?

On a similar note, Real Madrid did some major jazzing up today.
