Copa del Rey Final Contestants Announced: El Derbi Madrileño Coming Soon

28 Feb
There's some serious intensity coming up

There’s some serious drama about to go down.

This will be a quick post because I have to head out soon, but let me just say this: Madrid, Madrid, Madrid and more Madrid. The Copa del Rey final has Madrid written all over it thanks to the dynamic duos VaraCris and CostAlcao. Yesterday it was all about Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphaël Varane, and today Diego Costa and Radamel Falcao stole the spotlight. Although today’s clash between Atlético Madrid and Sevilla resulted in a 2-2 draw, the former advanced to the final with an aggregate score of 4-3.

Ángel Di María had Carles Puyol doing the splits (via 101greatgoals)

My abs are sore. Not from my workout earlier today, but from seeing Puyol do the splits in today’s El Clásico in the Camp Nou or should I say Camp Mou?. Should I have foreseen such an action-filled Clásico tonight, I would not have done so many planks this morning. Even Sir Alex Ferguson graced the Camp Nou with his appearance! Continue reading

AC Milan v. Inter Milan Derby della Madonnina, PSG v. Marseille Le Classique & Brazil’s Ronaldo Tribute

25 Feb

Today started off on the greatest note. I had a dream, in which Sergio Busquets visited me and we went on a hiking roadtrip to Los Angeles. He was wearing a light gray hoodie and was craving Wendy’s. Seriously, Mr. Millionaire Busquets, Wendy’s? Oh well, Wendy’s it was. I woke up from the dream at 4:30 a.m., completely inspired to work out. I headed to the gym and arrived there before it opened and before anyone else showed up. I hope I have more dreams like these for gym motivation purposes. I honestly don’t know why I had a dream about Busquets; I have never even thought of him, but a trip with a top-notch fútbol player never hurts, right?

In addition to my Busquets dream, a refreshing gym sesh, and my religious dose, today was the Derby della Madonnina, AND Le Classique, AND a tribute to legendary Brazilian Ronaldo within that French derby. Let’s start with Italy’s fiercest fútbol clash in the San Siro.

Today is such a wonderful day. Although it’s pouring here in San Diego, I am in my house, lying cozily with an FC Barcelona v. AC Milan Champions League 2011 rerun airing in Fox Deportes in the background. It would be complete ingratitude from by part I asked more from life. And, the programming says that the 2012 rerun will air after this one is over. Of course it is all about Barcelona v. Milan today. Why? Well, only because Barça and Milan will meet for the 16th time today in the first leg of the last 16 in the 2012-2013 Champions League. So, if you are watching Fox Deportes, prepare to have a Barcelona v. Milan overdose today. Personally, I will take that overdose any day. Thank you, Fox Deportes. FYI, Fox Deportes is airing the 2012-2013 Champions League in Spanish. It is also airing the Copa Libertadores. Therefore, you Spanish speakers out there, get the channel ASAP!!!!

Some psychologists believe that past behavior is the best predictor of future behavior. I have not really analyzed that tenet, but just in case, let’s take a look at the history of Barça/Milan to see if we catch any trends and form an idea of tonight’s victor/score. Let’s also look at some details of tonight’s clash in San Siro, Italy.

Manchester United v. Real Madrid: A History of the Modern World

13 Feb

real-madrid-manchester-unitedI need to do a massive amount of stretching tonight so that I can be ready for tomorrow, as I’m too sore to sit. I started doing a new kind of plyometrics and I can already feel the effects. If any of you are interested in plyometrics, you can find some information here. And if any of you are wondering what is happening tomorrow…shame on you!

Tomorrow, February 13, 2013, Manchester United and Real Madrid will meet for the first leg of the last-16 in the Champions League. Needless to say, I am too excited. I feel way more excited about this game than to see my crush. I have been looking forward to this match for months. Manchester United and Real Madrid have history, which is recently even more interesting due to a factor that they have in common: a certain lad named Cristiano Ronaldo. Let’s take a look at some quick stats.

Birthday Boy Cristiano Redeems Himself With a Hat-Trick Against Sevilla

10 Feb
Everybody bow, it's my birthday

“Everybody rise, it’s my birthday.”

I have been pretty busy doing a photo shoot for The Stilettos of Fútbol. This Thursday I visited Sweetwater High School and shot some pictures in its football field. It’s about time to jazz up this place with interesting images and colors, don’t you think?

On a similar note, Real Madrid did some major jazzing up today.
